About

Fewer, better things

Staple & Thread began from a simple idea: design understated wardrobe essentials that wear well for years. We focus on fit, fabric and finish so each piece has purpose. The collection is intentionally small and refined, built around shirts, knitwear, trousers and reliable outerwear. Every silhouette is considered in London and developed to complement a practical, modern life.

Our story

Staple & Thread was formed by a small team of designers and tailors who value restraint and quality. The brand is aimed at men who prefer less noise and more purpose in their wardrobe choices. We source fibres that balance longevity and comfort, and refine patterns to suit a range of shapes while keeping a tailored silhouette. We work with trusted mills and manufacturers who meet clear standards for working conditions and environmental care. Each season we refine the offering rather than expand it, ensuring the pieces you buy now remain useful for seasons to come. The approach emphasises repairable design and considered consumption rather than trend-driven turnover. Customers tell us they return to the same pieces year after year; that response underpins our design choices and our commitment to responsible production.

Quality and responsibility

Fabric selection is central to what we do. We prioritise natural fibres such as long-staple cotton and merino wool chosen for their breathability, drape and durability. Where possible we work with suppliers that can trace fibres through their supply chain. Garments are cut and sewn by makers who follow clear labour and safety standards. We continually review our processes to reduce waste and improve longevity across the collection. Care instructions are practical, and we offer simple repair guidance to extend a garment's life. This is not about perfection; it is about small, meaningful improvements that reduce overall impact while keeping quality at the forefront.

Made for the British fit

Our patterns are developed with UK proportions in mind. We test on a diverse group of models to ensure shirts, knitwear and trousers sit correctly across shoulders, chest and rise. Each product page includes fit notes and model info so you can choose with confidence. If you need guidance, our support team can advise on sizes and styling to help build a useful wardrobe that feels personal and well measured.

Where we make things

We partner with small factories across Europe with strong technical skill in shirting and knitwear. Final quality checks happen before dispatch from our London distribution centre.
